IT Information Systems Manager

Information systems managers can gain employment in every size of organisation, usually amongst a team of technicians, programmers and database administrators who will report to them.

The role of an information systems manager is primarily provides the ICT technology infrastructures for an organisation, this is usually done by installing computer systems and to ensure that the back up systems operate effectively.

To ensure that this is the case, a recurring requirement of the role is to evaluate the user's needs and the system's functionality. If improvements or adjustments are required, the this must be done to a set budget, which will require planning and obtaining competitive prices to ensure the developments prove to be cost effective.

There is also likely to be an element of training or supervision in the role, potentially to new members of your team, or throughout the organisation.

Like many jobs in the ICT sector, the actual job title for this type of role may vary, depending on the organisation that you are employed by. The titles "service delivery manager" or "data processing manager" are fairly common.
